Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. Introduction

Sarjya ("Sarjya", "we", "us", or "our") is an agriculture platform operated by PrimalInfosys ("Company"), connecting farmers, dealers, and agri-professionals through marketplace listings, government scheme information, crop and weather advisory, community posts, chat, and agriculture events. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website and mobile apps, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By creating an account or using Sarjya, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide directly

  • Account details: name, username, mobile number, email address, date of birth, occupation, and password
  • Profile information: profile photo, bio, and — for farmers — optional farm details (land size, crops grown, irrigation type, farming type)
  • Address information, including a searchable location you select (city, state, country, and geographic coordinates) — used to personalize schemes, weather alerts, and nearby events/listings shown to you
  • Content you create: marketplace listings, business profiles, community posts, comments, event submissions, and photos or videos you upload
  • Chat messages you send to other users through our in-app messaging feature
  • Communications with our support team, including anything you submit through the Contact page

b) Information collected automatically

  • Usage data such as pages and features visited, search queries, and interactions with listings, posts, and events
  • Device and app information (device type, OS version, app version) and a push-notification token, used to deliver notifications to your device
  • Approximate or precise location, when you choose to search for or select a location (e.g. adding your address, searching for a venue) — Sarjya does not track your location in the background

c) Information from other users

Other users may see and interact with content you post publicly (posts, comments, marketplace/business listings, public profile information), and can send you chat messages if you follow or are followed by them, consistent with your Profile Visibility setting.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and profile
  • To operate core features: marketplace, government scheme information, crop/weather advisory, community posts, chat, agriculture events, and business listings
  • To personalize content — for example, showing government schemes, crop-disease alerts, and events relevant to your district and the crops you grow
  • To send notifications you've opted into (chat messages, news, weather alerts, new followers, crop price alerts, safety alerts, event alerts) — each category can be turned off individually in Settings
  • To provide customer support and respond to your requests
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms
  • To maintain and improve platform performance and reliability

4. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers that help us operate Sarjya, and only to the extent needed for them to perform that function:

  • Cloud storage & delivery — photos and videos you upload (avatar, posts, products, business galleries, event banners) are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) and delivered via Amazon CloudFront
  • Push notifications — delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)
  • SMS/OTP verification — mobile verification codes are sent via our SMS gateway provider
  • Translation, search & voice features — Sarjya translates content into supported Indian languages and powers search/voice features using a combination of self-hosted AI models (running on our own infrastructure) and, for certain features, third-party AI providers. No chat message content is used for these features.
  • Analytics & infrastructure — aggregate, non-identifying usage data may be processed to monitor performance and reliability

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Sarjya, our users, or the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to affected users where required by law).

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, and as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. See Section 8 ("Account & Data Deletion") for what happens to your data when you delete your account.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and authenticated APIs — to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; our mobile apps use equivalent on-device storage instead of browser cookies.

8. Account & Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and data at any time, directly within the app — this does not require contacting support. Full details of what is deleted, what is retained, and how long it takes are on our Account & Data Deletion page.

9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, or export your personal information, object to certain processing, and request deletion of your account and data (see Section 8). You can access and update most of your information directly from your Profile and Settings pages, or contact us using the details below.

10. Children's Privacy

Sarjya is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

11. International Data Transfers

Sarjya operates primarily in India, and most data is stored on infrastructure located in India. Some third-party service providers described in Section 4 may process data on servers located outside India; where this occurs, we require appropriate safeguards consistent with applicable data protection law.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice (e.g. in-app or by email). Continued use of Sarjya after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
